Love Wills: How Unconditional Love Empowers a Spirit-Led Life

Love Is Not a Feeling—It’s a Choice

The past few weeks have been filled with sorrow and headlines that break the heart: a young woman named Irina Sirutsky, stabbed while riding a bus; two high school students shot while simply trying to attend school; and the high-profile assassination of public figure Charlie Kirk. These are not isolated events. They are symptoms of a deeper illness in our culture: the loss of reverence for human life.

Text reads "LOVE is a Choice. LOVE WILLS" on a gradient background from gold to dark blue, with a white bird and heart icon.

The Bible gives us a foundational truth that speaks directly to this crisis. In Genesis 1:27, we read that every human being is made in the image of God—imago Dei. This means each person carries divine value and deserves dignity and love, regardless of their background, status, or beliefs.

When we lose sight of this, judgment replaces compassion, and hatred takes the place of love. The path back begins with a simple but powerful truth: Love is an act of your will.

1. Forgiveness: A Willing Step Toward Freedom

“If you forgive others their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.” – Matthew 6:14

Forgiveness is not about fairness; it’s about freedom. It isn’t easy—especially when the offense is severe. But Scripture is clear: if we withhold forgiveness from others, we hinder our own relationship with God.

Forgiving someone who’s wronged you may be the hardest decision you'll ever make, but it's also one of the most liberating. Not because the other person deserves it, but because Jesus commanded it.

“Do not live a life of unforgiveness. The only thing it will do is eat you up.”

2. Growing in Grace Starts with God’s Word

Grace is what allows us to grow despite our failures. Like the Corinthian church—who had many problems but also many gifts—we are called to pursue growth through the study and application of Scripture.

Psalm 119 reminds us to hide God’s Word in our hearts to keep from sin, and 2 Timothy 2:15 calls us to handle Scripture correctly. This isn’t a passive process. It’s daily, intentional, and transformative.

“Are you going to will yourself to study God?”

3. Testify: Share the Hope Within You

The early church grew because believers couldn’t stay silent. Whether preaching in synagogues or sharing Christ on the street, they had a message too good to contain.

1 Peter 3:15 urges us to always be ready to share the reason for our hope. Testifying isn’t about being eloquent; it’s about being honest and obedient. When you speak, the Holy Spirit moves.

“It’s never been about you. It’s about the working of the Holy Spirit through you.”

4. Serve by Walking in Your Gifts

Every believer is gifted by God to serve. The question is whether we are using those gifts. The church in Corinth had spiritual gifts but needed correction in how they applied them.

God has equipped each of us with what we need to build His Kingdom. Don’t wait to feel worthy or ready. Step out. Serve. Let God meet you there.

“Take what you have learned and exercise it. Put it to work.”

5. Fellowship: You Are Not Alone

Christianity was never meant to be lived in isolation. Hebrews 10:24–25 urges believers to meet regularly and encourage one another in love and good deeds.

Fellowship is both human and divine. It’s where we find accountability, strength, and joy. It’s where iron sharpens iron. When you walk with others in faith, you don’t just survive—you thrive.

“There’s no such thing as a lone Christian.”

So What?

To live a Blessed and Empowered life is to surrender your will to God’s will. That surrender is rooted in unconditional love—not love based on feelings or appearances, but on divine truth.

When we see people not for who they appear to be, but for who they are in God’s image, our hearts change. We begin to love like Jesus. We forgive, we grow, we testify, we serve, and we gather.

And it all starts with this truth: Love is an act of your will.
